The historic monastery of Hosios Loukas on the slopes of Mount Helicon, one of the most important monuments of Middle Byzantine architecture and art, listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. It is best known for the program of mosaics and frescoes in the Catholicon, unsurpassed in their quality, quantity, and fine state of preservation.
DELPHI ARCHEOLOGICAL AREA
An ancient Greek city mentioned from Homeric years by the name of Pytho developed into a pan-Hellenic center and a holy city of the ancient Greeks. In ancient times was a sacred precinct that served as the seat of Pythia the major oracle who was consulted about important decisions throughout the ancient classical world.
DELPHI ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
The Archaeological Museum of Delphi, one of the most important in Greece, presents the history of the famous Delphic sanctuary and the most famous oracle of the ancient Greek world. One of the most famous exhibits is the Charioteer of Delphi, the bronze statue of Hiniochos as it is called in greek.
ANCIENT THEATRE
The ancient theatre at Delphi is built up the hill giving spectators a view of the entire sanctuary and the valley below. Its reputation was the same with the ancient stadium in Olympia, as it housed vocal and instrumental music games that were carried out for the Pythian Games and other religious celebrations and ceremonials offering the monument a spiritual and artistic value.
ARACHOVA VILLAGE
A picturesque mountainous village panoramic view, uphill small houses and cobbled streets on Parnassus, one of the most cosmopolitan winter destinations of Greece. A famous product of Arachova is formaela cheese which has been designated as a protected designation of origin.
